Assistant Chief of Police Shara Parks is currently assigned as the Commander of the Administrative Bureau.

Career

Parks began her career with the Louisville Division of Police in 2000. She served as a patrol officer and detective in the former Second District. After merger, Parks was selected to be a detective in LMPD’s Fifth Division. She was promoted to Sergeant in 2006, and supervised both patrol officers and flex detectives in the Fourth Division. In 2007, Parks was promoted to lieutenant. Her assignments have included: adjutant to the Assistant Chief of Police, adjutant to the Deputy Chief of Police, Third and Fourth Division Patrol sector lieutenant, Fourth Division Patrol shift lieutenant and Commander of the Professional Standards Unit. After being promoted to major, she served as the Commander of the LMPD’s Fifth Division. After being promoted to Assistant Chief, Parks served as Commander of the Patrol Bureau.

Assistant Chief Parks was a member of the LPD/LMPD Honor Guard for ten (10) years. During her tenure, she served as both the Assistant Commander and Commander of the unit. Parks is also a founding member of the Louisville Police Pipes and Drums.

Education

Assistant Chief Parks earned a Bachelor's Degree, with a double major in Biology and Psychobiology, from Centre College and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Mississippi State University. In 2010, Parks graduated from the Southern Police Institute’s (SPI) Administrative Officers Course.

Personal Life

Assistant Chief Parks is married and has four (4) children.
