Major Jamey Schwab currently serves as the Commander of the Special Investigations Division.
Schwab began his law enforcement career with the Louisville Division of Police (LPD) in 1998, where he served in the former First and Fifth Districts as a patrol officer. He went on to work as a detective in both the Domestic Violence Unit and Crimes Against Children Unit (CACU). After his promotion to sergeant, he served in the Fifth Division as a patrol supervisor, division resource sergeant and a criminal investigations sergeant. As a lieutenant, Schwab served in the Fourth Division, the Chief's Office and commanded the Community Policing Unit.
After being promoted to the rank of major, Schwab commanded the Eighth Division.
He is also a former member of the Hostage Negotiating Team (HNT), Special Response Team (SRT) and Hazardous Incident Response Team.
Schwab is a Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC) certified instructor and a past president of the LMPD Commanding Officers Association.
Major Schwab holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with dual minors in English and Communication from Transylvania University and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisville. He is also a Dean's List graduate of the Southern Police Institute's (SPI) Administrative Officers Course.
