Major David Allen is currently assigned as the Commander of the Administrative Services Division.
In 2006, Allen began his career in law enforcement with the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD). He was a patrol officer and division detective in the Third Division. He became a Robbery Unit detective in 2011, where he remained until his promotion to sergeant in 2014. As a sergeant, Allen served in the Fifth Division. In 2016, he was promoted to lieutenant and served in the First Divsion. He then went to the Major Crimes Division, serving as the Special Victims Unit Commander.
In 2018, Allen was promoted to Major.
Allen spent seven (7) years on the Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT). He is a certified instructor with the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training.
Major Allen earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Secondary Education, with an emphasis in mathematics, from Pensacola Christian College. He was a Dean's Scholar graduate at the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute’s (SPI) Administrative Officer’s Course. He is currently attending the University of the Cumberlands, working towards a Masters of Science in Criminal Justice Administration.
Major Allen is married and has four (4) children.
