Gang Tips for Parents

  • Get to know your child’s friends and their parents
  • Teach your child about the risks of gangs, the negative consequences of gang behavior and how to avoid them
  • Talk with your children and hear out their concerns
  • Get your child involved with positive supervised activities including sports programs, Boys & Girls Clubs, hobby clubs, etc.
  • Create household rules, including curfews, and enforce them
  • Place a high value on education and help your child succeed in school
  • Be a good example to your children
  • Report gang activity or graffiti in your area or neighborhood to 574-LMPD
